We’re passionate about helping you grow and make an impact.
Meet Kim
Role: President
Kimberlie is passionate and driven, and when an idea gets into her head, one would be hard pressed to stop her. While still in high school, Kimberlie became a student ambassador to Europe, opening a world of culture, diversity, and wonder for her. This later led to her taking a teaching position in Tehuacan, Mexico, where she taught English in both private schools, and to underprivileged children.
When it came to educating her own family, though homeschooling was always on the table, Kimberlie initially chose to put her children in a small private school. Kimberlie states, “Though the school and the educators were remarkable, and we involved our children in all the extracurriculars that we were “supposed” to; dance, t-ball, tumbling, piano, Spanish, etc., our little ones were completely exhausted at the end of the day. I remember one night my little 5 year old just crying as I went through her bedtime routine. She explained to me that she didn’t feel like there was any time for her to just play and have time to herself. That is when everything changed for me.”
After that Kimberlie began to teach her children from home, and became a huge advocate for letting them be little, and to enjoy their childhood.
Shortly after beginning their homeschool journey, Kimberlie and her family moved to Idaho. After trying and failing to find a homeschool community, Kimberlie decided to create her own. It was a huge learning process, but the pieces fell together, and the Portneuf Homeschool Collective was born.
Kimberlie adores wildflowers, water colors, and campfires. She feels most at home when she is in the mountains. She also loves to cook (she even had her own frozen meal business while living in Utah,) and is always reading at least half a dozen books at any given time.
Her six children and husband are her entire world, with her homeschool community as a close second.
Meet Kelli
Role: Vice President
Kelli is a dedicated mother who has been homeschooling her four children since 2019. She is deeply passionate about this alternative educational approach, believing it provides her children with a customized and enriching learning experience.
Kelli holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, which has equipped her with a profound understanding of child development and learning processes. Due to this she is passionate about letting children be just that- children. This academic background greatly influences her homeschooling methods, allowing her to create tailored curriculums that cater to each child's unique strengths and interests.
Kelli has a passion for empowering parents, and helping them find the power that comes from educating your children. Likewise, her main role in the co-op is just that. Helping teachers, and being a support for them.
Outside of her role as an educator, Kelli is an avid nature enthusiast. She finds solace and joy in gardening, hiking, and camping, often incorporating these activities into her children's learning experiences. Her love for the outdoors instills a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world in her children.
In her free time, Kelli can be found immersed in a good book or experimenting with new baking recipes. She has a knack for creating delicious treats that bring joy to her family and friends. Additionally, Kelli has a soft spot for babies and enjoys spending time caring for and nurturing the little ones in her community.
Overall, Kelli's journey as a homeschooling mother, combined with her academic background, diverse interests, and nurturing nature, makes her a compassionate and inspiring individual dedicated to her family's well-being and growth. She pours all of that and more into this co-op and its families. She loves working with our teachers to provide students with incredible opportunities.
Meet Shaleah
Role: Treasurer
Shaleah is a dedicated mother of two daughters, each one a precious part of her heart and inspiration for her journey. When faced with the decision of how to best educate her family, Shaleah knew that homeschooling was the perfect fit.
One of the main reasons for choosing homeschooling was to ensure that her daughter with complex medical needs received uninterrupted and personalized care without having to adjust to the rigid schedule of public school. This decision not only prioritized her daughter's health but also allowed the family to travel together for medical care, turning these trips into cherished bonding experiences filled with love and resilience.
Furthermore, Shaleah didn't want to sacrifice valuable time with her children. If in public school she wouldn’t see them due to the various therapies needed after school. Not to mention dance or other extra curricular programs! Homeschooling provided the flexibility needed to balance education, therapy, and most importantly, quality family time.
Outside of her role as a devoted mother and educator, Shaleah finds joy in nature, exercise, and the serenity of the beach. Her love for gardening and animals reflects her nurturing spirit and connection to the Earth.
Shaleah also shares her passion for safety and education by teaching Infant Swim Resource (ISR), where she imparts life-saving skills to children and instills confidence in water safety.
On a fun note, Shaleah's favorite color is green, symbolizing growth, harmony, and renewal—an embodiment of her journey as a mother, advocate, educator, and lover of life.
